On the anniversary of her son Luke’s birth, and Dr. Joel Goran’s (Daniel Gillies) death, Dr. Alex Reid (Erica Durance) treats 12-year-old Taylor Finn (Jenessa Grant, REIGN) who is admitted to Hope Zion Hospital after a motocross accident, only to be diagnosed with Leukemia. Alex must then convince Taylor’s mother to put the past aside and track down her estranged junkie sister, Janice Fenn (Tara Spencer-Nairn, CORNER GAS), to help save Taylor’s life. After their romantic plans are pushed back for a heart transplant, Dr. Dawn Bell’s (Michelle Nolden) new boyfriend Lane (Shaun Benson, DEFIANCE: THE LOST ONES) insists on observing her work her magic in the O.R., but when his stomach can’t take it, Dawn has to handle her embarrassed boyfriend’s fragile ego. Meanwhile, Dr. Charlie Harris (Michael Shanks) must contend with the father of a recent suicide victim who refuses to believe she won’t wake up, and the spirit of the victim who just wants to move on. When the true nature of their relationship comes out, Charlie must walk a fine line to bring the victim’s spirit to rest. In the E.R., Dr. Dev Sekera (Dejan Loyola, THE TOMORROW PEOPLE) and Dr. Cassie Williams (Kim Shaw, THE GOOD WIFE) have their hands full when Dr. Zach Miller (Benjamin Ayres) is moved by the anniversary of Joel’s death and declares that no one will die under his care.
Total packed episode tonight. So many matters of the . Tugged at my heart a bit. Yup got the kleenex out. Them writers sure know who to get to us. Bravo to Michelle, Michael, Erica, Benjamin for stellar performances tonight. And of course all the other actors were top notch too. Hated Dawn's scene at the end. What a horrible scene . Poor Dawn. I can't wait to see the fallout from that. Would love to give Dawn a great big hug right now. Charlie is all heart. It must have killed him to not rip that guy apart. Wow just so much to unpack from this episode. Anyone else?
Michelle Nolden and Michael Shanks knocking it out of the park as usual. Heart broke for Dawn in the very last scene. I hope she can get away from Lane and find someone, she seemed so happy the past few episodes.
Charlie meanwhile showing restraint both in the soft-sell approach (genius move) and the point blank accusation later.
Good storyline with Alex, the descriptions confused me on who was the drug addict/donor but it all came clear. Don't know if they'll follow up on the case but hopefully the mother stays clean.
Zach was great too. Rough day for Dev but Zach said some really good things to him and Cassie, hopefully he'll bounce back.
